About the church

Tomaskyrkan is a church building in Västerås. It is the parish church of Västerås Badelunda parish, Diocese of Västerås.

The church was built in the early 1970s on the outskirts of Skiljebo. One of its distinguishing features is a monastery-like enclosedness, where the church is surrounded by two low, angled wings containing parish premises. It is regarded as one of the architect Nils Tesch's foremost works and was also his largest church commission. An important starting point was the five-part altar painting Frid på jorden by Carl Kylberg from around 1940. The church is named after the apostle Thomas.
