About the church
Önsta Gryta kyrka is a church in Önsta parish in the Diocese of Västerås. In 1984 the first church in the district of Önsta-Gryta in northern Västerås was consecrated, but in time it became far too small. Instead of extending it, the parish chose to build an entirely new church in 2007, next to the former parish hall at Gryta gård. The older church building was sold to the Syriac Orthodox Church.
Among the furnishings are two depictions of Jesus: a life-size copy in Lego of Bertel Thorvaldsen's The Risen Christ, and a 7.5-metre-long fuse-bead panel with a motif after Leonardo da Vinci's painting The Last Supper.
