About the church
Mikaelikyrkan is a church building in Västerås Municipality. It is the parish church of Västerås Lundby parish in the Diocese of Västerås. The church was designed by the architects Bertil Tideström and Gösta Ekroth and was completed in 1966. Together with its belfry, the church is a clear example of 1960s modernist architecture inspired by brutalism, and also an illustration of what new construction techniques made possible. It is named after the archangel Michael.
