Lundby kyrka

About the church

Lundby kyrka is a church building belonging to Västerås Lundby parish in the Diocese of Västerås. It was built in the 12th century and is thus one of the oldest churches in the diocese. Already in the Middle Ages the church underwent several alterations and extensions, which can be read from the church's exposed fieldstone walls. Much of its present appearance, both inside and out, dates from the late 19th century. In the church village there are, among other things, a vicarage from the 1860s, a provisions storehouse from the first half of the 19th century and a dwelling where the parish clerk once lived. There are also two school buildings, from the 1840s and the 1910s respectively, with a large outhouse from the late 19th century. There has previously also been a poorhouse next to the church.
