About the church
Valö kyrka is a church building in Valö in the Diocese of Uppsala and belongs to Frösåker parish. Until 2006 the church belonged to Valö parish, which was then merged into Frösåker parish. Since the Middle Ages it has been the parish church of the historic parish of Valö.
South of the church stands a lychgate from the end of the 15th century. The depiction by Rhezelius from 1636 shows that there were lychgates in the west and east as well. Just outside the north-eastern corner of the churchyard stands a bell tower built in 1739–1740. The drawing by Rhezelius shows that the present bell tower had at least one predecessor. In the south-western corner of the new churchyard there is also a mortuary built in 1939. A sturdy stone wall runs around the church and the churchyard.
