About the church
Mariakyrkan is a church building in the district of Marieberg in Umeå.

Built in 1982 in brick with yellow brick façades. It has a gently sloping mono-pitch roof with roofing felt. On the roof the church bells used to hang in a white openwork cube; since 2002 they hang in a separate tower, designed by Ragnar Bergeå. The walls of the church are whitewashed and the wooden roof panelling is painted white. The floor is of limestone. The church has movable wooden pews. The architect was Bertil Håkansson and the altar textile was woven by Margit Westin.
The previous organ was a modular organ, built by Nord Orgel in Umeå. In 2015 the church's new organ was inaugurated, a fully mechanical organ with 17 stops, built by Robert Gustavsson Orgelbyggeri, Härnösand. The organ can be operated without electricity by means of a pedal for the bellows.
