About the church
Botkyrka kyrka is a church building in northern Botkyrka Municipality. It is the parish church of Botkyrka parish in the Diocese of Stockholm. The first church on the site was a wooden church built in 1129; the present stone church dates back to 1176. At the church there is, among other things, a copy of the tombstone of Botvid's brother Björn, the builder of the church - the so-called "Botkyrkamonumentet" from around 1150; the original is kept at the Swedish History Museum.
