About the church
Ytterjärna kyrka (called Ytter-Järna kyrka in older texts) is a church building that is part of Ytterjärna parish in Södertälje Deanery, Diocese of Strängnäs. The church lies in Ytterjärna outside Järna, south of Södertälje in Södermanland. It was built in the Middle Ages at a strategically important spot on the old main road between Södertälje and Nyköping in Södermanland, close to the sailing route between the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren.
