Built mainly in 1730-33 under the direction of the master builder Philip Eckel. The church has a special bell tower built from material from the earlier medieval church on the site.

About the church
Visnums kyrka is a church building belonging to Visnum parish, Diocese of Karlstad. It is located in Kristinehamn Municipality, about 25 kilometres south of the main town of Kristinehamn.
The medieval church site in Visnum parish (historical) was located about 300 metres south-east of the present one. During an archaeological investigation in 1963 the foundation of a wooden church was uncovered, with the same floor plan as the log churches of Hammarö and Södra Råda.
