A medieval church from the 12th century. In the 15th century the church gained a tower, a porch, a new chancel and a sacristy. Star vaults of the Vadstena type and paintings by Albertus Pictor.

About the church
Vansö kyrka, on Fogdön, about 12 kilometres north-west of Strängnäs.
The church is built of stone. The oldest part probably dates from the end of the 12th century. The church was extended towards the east around 1300. Around 1450 it was extended further. The vaults and the tower were also added then. The upper parts of the tower were demolished in 1765, but rebuilt in 1901–1902.
In the latter year a narrower chancel was also built. In 1901–1902 the church underwent a restoration led by Fredrik Lilljekvist and was restored again in 1938 under the direction of Erik Fant.
Around 1680 the eastern part of the church began to crack because the church had not been built on solid bedrock.
