About the church
Tingstäde kyrka is a church building in Tingstäde on Gotland. The church, which formerly belonged to Tingstäde parish, is one of the many well-preserved medieval rural churches on the island. It is visible from far around, and its 55-metre-high tower has served as a sea mark, even though the church lies ten kilometres from the nearest coast.
The oldest parts of the church are dated to about 1200 with the help of the sculptures made by the master Calcarius.
