About the church
Skagershults (nya) kyrka is a church building belonging to Skagershult parish, Bodarne pastorate, in the Diocese of Strängnäs. The church lies in Hasselfors in Laxå Municipality. The church and its surrounding church environment (churchyard, parish hall and vicarage) occupy a high and dominant position in the locality of Hasselfors. A short distance to the north lies the old ironworks area of Hasselfors, and to the south the younger settlement.
The church's predecessor in Hasselfors was consecrated on the same site in 1878, built of limestone from Yxhult and paid for by the shareholders of Hasselfors bruk. It was designed by the architect Carl Lundmark of Örebro. On New Year's Day 1893, however, this church burned down to the ground.
