Rydebäcks kyrka

When you visit Rydebäcks kyrka, you are in one of the younger church interiors of the Diocese of Lund. It was consecrated on 7 May 1995 by the then bishop of the diocese, K G Hammar. In keeping with the ancient ritual, the bishop lifted his crozier three times and knocked on the door of the new church.

About the church
Rydebäcks kyrka is a church in Rydebäck, south of Helsingborg. It is a district church in Kvistofta parish in the Diocese of Lund.
The community of Rydebäck began to be developed in the early 1960s, when a building consortium bought up Rydebäcks gård with the intention of building a residential area of villas on its land. The locality grew quickly, but in its early years it had practically no services at all, and the question of a place for worship was still unresolved. A parish hall was, however, built in 1979, and in connection with it there was an outdoor, amphitheatre-like church, a so-called open-air church. After 20 years of plans for a church, the shell-shaped chapel of Rydebäck was finally completed in 1995. The chapel was built next to the older parish hall in the centre of Rydebäck. The consecration service took place on 7 May 1995 and was conducted by the then Bishop of the Diocese of Lund, K. G. Hammar.
The architect was Bertil Mernsten, who drew inspiration from the round churches of Bornholm. The building is constructed of light yellow brick with a concave profile and has round façades that gradually rise ever higher.
