About the church
Öregrunds kyrka is a church building in Öregrund in the Diocese of Uppsala and belongs to Öregrund-Gräsö parish. The church stands on a headland near Öregrund harbour. On a hill south of the church stands a red-painted, shingle-clad bell tower, 18 metres high. The cap of the tower is crowned by a weathervane bearing the year 1736, which is probably the year work began on repairing an earlier bell tower that was built in 1690 and burned down during the Russian raids of 1719. There are clock faces on the sides of the tower. The small bell was cast in 1650 by Gorgen Putensen in Stockholm. The great bell was cast in 1752 by Gerhard Meyer in Stockholm.
