Löderups kyrka

Löderups kyrka dates from the 12th century and is dedicated to Saint Olof. Among the sights are the baptismal font from 1160 by the so-called Tryde Master and the pulpit from 1605 by Jacob Kremberg. The altarpiece "Christ in Emmaus" was painted by Carl Bloch in 1878.

About the church
Löderups kyrka is a church building in Löderup. It is the parish church of Löderup parish in the Diocese of Lund. The oldest parts, the nave and the broad west tower, date from the 12th century. The church was vaulted in the 15th century. Under the direction of Carl Georg Brunius, the old chancel and apse were demolished in 1860. Instead, two transept arms and a new three-sided chancel were added. Finally, a sacristy was added in 1929.
The baptismal font dates from around the year 1160 and was made by the Tryde Master, who also made the baptismal font in Valleberga kyrka. This font resembles the one in Valleberga but depicts parts of the Passion of Christ and legends about Saint Olof.
The pulpit, which was made in 1604, is the work of Jacob Kremberg. Carl Bloch painted the altarpiece, which has since been copied in several places. There is also an older altarpiece from 1735 that contains parts of an even older altarpiece, also made by Kremberg.
The church also has a freestanding kastal (a fortified tower), which was probably built in the 15th century.
