About the church
Kulla kyrka is a church building in the historical parish of Kulla, which is part of Lagunda parish, Diocese of Uppsala. The parish lies by Oxen, a bay of Lake Mälaren. The church stands on a hill almost in the middle of the parish and is surrounded by flat farmland. The surrounding churchyard extends furthest to the north and south of the church. The churchyard acquired its present extent in 1883. A churchyard wall is first mentioned in 1626 and had a wooden cover, which was removed in 1758. The churchyard has three entrances, of which the main entrance is in the south wall and is closed by iron gates between two whitewashed posts. The other two entrances are in the west wall and have gateposts of hewn grey stone. Lychgates have existed in the south and the west. The south lychgate was demolished in 1803, while the west lychgate was probably not demolished until 1870.
