About the church
Häglinge kyrka is a church building in Häglinge. It has walls of rendered natural stone and is covered by a gabled roof. The church belongs to Sösdala parish in the Diocese of Lund. In 1877 it replaced a medieval church which, in the words of Bishop Wilhelm Flensburg, had become "very deficient and inadequate in terms of space". The church has room for 1,000 people. The new church was built to designs by Johan Fredrik Åbom. Åbom's designs were based on drawings by the master builder Peder Christian Sörensen in Lund. Earlier, in 1871, Helgo Zettervall had drawn up plans for a new church in the shape of a Latin cross for 31,000 riksdaler, but the parish had rejected them as too expensive. The master builder of the church was the well-known Nils Andersson from Malmö.
The church, together with its organ, was consecrated on 28 October 1877 by Bishop Flensburg. He was assisted by the rectors Bokander, Trägårdh, Pettersson, Sjöström and Edeström.
