About the church
Fittja kyrka is a church building in the historic parish of Fittja and belongs to Lagunda parish in the Diocese of Uppsala. The church lies in the church village of Fittja on the southern side of the bay Lårstaviken, which is part of Ekoln and Lake Mälaren. About 25 kilometres to the southwest lies Enköping. On the northern side of Lårstaviken lies Viks slott, which has been known since the 13th century and is one of Sweden's best-preserved late medieval castles. The area has plenty of castles and manor houses, as well as abundant ancient remains.
Three hundred metres west of the church, on a wooded hill, stands a bell tower built in 1767-1768. The tower is clad in boards and has a shingle-covered cap with a lantern and a spire. As early as 1632 there was a bell tower on the site.
