Askims kyrka

Askims kyrka in Hovås was built in 1878–1879. It replaced the earlier church, which dated back to the 13th century and burned down in 1876. The master builder was August Krüger and the architect Ludvig Hedin. The building consists of a rectangular nave with an unusual north–south orientation. At the southern short side is a chancel with a three-sided end, and at the northern short side is a church tower with the main entrance and porch. East of the chancel is an attached sacristy, which was added in 1941. In 2022 the church underwent a thorough interior renovation, and in 2023 the exterior is being renovated.
