Virke kyrka looks old, and although there was indeed a stone church on the site as early as the 12th century, that church was very small and had a thatched roof right up until 1830, as well as a bell tower, though not towards the end, when the bell had been hung up in the attic.

Since 2006 Virke kyrka has been a parish church in Kävlinge parish in the Diocese of Lund. The church is located in the church village of Virke, halfway between Kävlinge and Eslöv.
