About the church
Vimmerby kyrka is a church building in Vimmerby in the Diocese of Linköping. It is the parish church of Vimmerby parish. It was during a visit to the churchyard in Vimmerby that Astrid Lindgren found a grave with the inscription Here rest the infant brothers Johan Magnus and Achates Phalén, died 1860. This inspired Lindgren to write a book about children and death. The book was titled Bröderna Lejonhjärta (The Brothers Lionheart).
