Beautifully situated on Orrudden by Lake Tyngsjön lies Tyngsjö kyrka. The stately church is a rare example of a largely untouched Neo-Gothic wooden church.

About the church
Tyngsjö Kyrka is a church building in Tyngsjö on Malungs finnmark in Dalarna. It belongs to Malung parish in the Diocese of Västerås.
From around 1815 to 1922 Tyngsjö formed a chapel district of its own, Tyngsjö kapellag, within Malung parish. The present church was consecrated in 1875 to designs by Johan Erik Söderlund, and beside the church there was also a vicarage, which is now used as the parish's camp centre. In 1970 the church was close to burning down when lightning struck the tower spire, but the people of Tyngsjö quickly came to the rescue and were able to save the church.
From 1815 to 1875 the church stood on a site 1.6 kilometres north of the present church. A deserted churchyard surrounds the foundation of the old church, and a memorial stone stands at the site.
