Tuns kyrka

Tuns kyrka was built in 1846 and stands on the same site as its medieval predecessor. The church was restored in 1948-1950. During the excavations, remains of the earlier church were found. The altar painting depicting Christ and the Emmaus disciples is a work by the artist Marina Kylberg, Såtenäs.

About the church
Tuns kyrka is a church building that since 2006 has belonged to Örslösa parish (formerly Tun parish) in the Diocese of Skara. It is located in the church village of Tun in Lidköping Municipality.
The present church was built in 1846 to plans by Johan Adolf Hawerman. Already in the Middle Ages, however, there was a church on the same site, and remains of it were discovered during a restoration in 1948–1950. The church is located near two Iron Age burial mounds and is believed to have been built on what was previously a place of worship for the religion that existed at the site before it was Christianised.
The altarpiece was painted by Marina Kylberg and depicts Christ and the Emmaus disciples.
