Torsångs kyrka

The oldest church in Dalarna, built of grey stone and brick from the early 14th century. The shingle-clad, black-tarred bell tower probably dates from the early 16th century. The oldest furnishings are the baptismal font in Gotland sandstone from the 13th century.

About the church
Torsångs kyrka is a church building in Torsång in Dalarna. It is the parish church of Torsång parish in the Diocese of Västerås. The churchyard is surrounded by a stone wall which, besides its aesthetic function and that of marking the boundary of the plot, also serves to protect against flooding when the water level in Lake Runn is high. High-water marks are drawn on the wall.
The church and its bell tower can be seen at the beginning of the film Winter Light (Nattvardsgästerna), which was written and directed by Ingmar Bergman.
