Sankt Nikolai kyrka

In the early 14th century Halmstad was moved closer to the coast. Building of S:t Nikolai kyrka then began, named after the patron saint of seafarers. It was completed at the end of the 15th century.

About the church

Sankt Nikolai kyrka, formerly also Halmstads kyrka, is a church building which since 2016 has belonged to Halmstad parish (1962–2016 S:t Nikolai parish, earlier Halmstad parish (before 1962)) in the Diocese of Gothenburg. It is a three-aisled hall church with a raised central nave and an ambulatory, and stands by Kyrkogatan and Stora Torg in Halmstad.
