The church was built in the 12th century. The present central nave is the oldest part of the church. The altar cabinet was made in Germany in the 16th century and has doors that can be closed.

About the church
Sankt Nicolai kyrka (formerly the church of Arboga rural parish) with its surrounding churchyard lies on the northern edge of the town centre of Arboga and belongs to Arbogabygden parish in the Diocese of Västerås. To the south the walled churchyard borders a former deanery, today the parish office.
