About the church
Sälens fjällkyrka is a church building in the Sälen mountains in Dalarna. Sälens Fjällkyrka and Tandådalens fjällkyrka respectively belong to Lima-Transtrand parish.
The church in Sälen was built in 1967-69 to designs by the priest Lars Ridderstedt and was consecrated on 30 March 1969. It is located by Sälens högfjällshotell to serve the many tourists who come there, mainly during the winter months.
The church measures 16 x 10 metres and is 12 metres high, built of horizontal logs. The altar stone is of sandstone from Mångsbodarna. The church was extended with additional premises in 1979 and 1992.
Lima-Transtrand parish took over the running of Sälens fjällkyrka in January 2012.
In 2012 both mountain churches were transferred to the Diocese of Västerås.
