About the church
Östra Karaby kyrka is a church building in Östra Karaby in Eslöv Municipality. It is the parish church of Marieholm parish in the Diocese of Lund.
The church is said to have been built towards the end of the 11th century or possibly the beginning of the 12th century in the Romanesque style. It is very small, has no tower, and in the mid-19th century it was extended with a vault to the west. According to one account, the porch to the north was added in 1728. Previously there was a porch in the south.
The church owns a triumphal crucifix from the 15th century, which is badly damaged.
The church was restored in 1917, with a new restoration in the mid-1960s. Details of medieval decoration were then uncovered, beautiful ornamentation from the 15th century, and the pulpit regained its Rococo decoration from the 18th century.
North-east of the church there is a timbered bell tower from 1713. It has only one bell, cast in 1763.
