About the church
Onsala kyrka is a church building on Onsala in Kungsbacka Municipality. It belongs to Onsala parish in the Diocese of Gothenburg.
The church stands fairly high up, surrounded by dense residential housing. In the Viking Age the site of Onsala kyrka was a sacrificial grove. The name Onsala derives from the Norse religion and means Odin's hall. The vicarage lies about 300 metres south-east of the church and the parish clerk's farmstead is found half a kilometre north-east of the church.
