About the church
Marby nya kyrka is a church building in the historical parish of Marby. It is the parish church of Västra Storsjöbygden parish in the Diocese of Härnösand.
Marby is one of the historical parishes in Norrland which, like for example Oviken parish, has two churches, one from the Middle Ages and one from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. As early as 1848-49 people began to plan the building of a new church in Marby. It was the poor foundation of the old church that made them feel compelled to build a new church instead of extending the old one.
