Kumlaby kyrka was built during the first half of the 12th century. It has escaped the alterations that were otherwise common, thanks to Per Brahe the Younger turning the church into a school with three classrooms in 1636.

About the church
Kumlaby kyrka is a church building in Kumlaby on Visingsö in Jönköping Municipality, belonging to the Diocese of Växjö. It is counted among the best-preserved early medieval buildings in north-western Småland.
Kumlaby kyrka was until the middle of the 16th century the parish church of Kumlaby parish, which was then merged into Visingsö parish.
Near the church lies the so-called Brahestenen, a memorial to Per Brahe the Younger, made in 1653 by Johan Johansson Werner.
