Klädesholmens kyrka

During the herring period at the end of the 18th century, the population of Klädesholmen grew dramatically. A voluntary collection for a church began on 4 April 1793, and in the autumn of the same year the church was complete. It was, however, not consecrated until the following year, as permission from the king was needed. The intention was for the church to be demolished when the herring fishing ended, but it still stands today. The church on Klädesholmen is the oldest church of the Church of Sweden on Tjörn.
