About the church
Kils kyrka is located in Närkes Kil in the Diocese of Strängnäs. It is the parish church of Axberg parish within Norra Närke deanery. Kils kyrka is the parish church of Kil civil parish.
In the 12th century a large church building project was planned in Kil. The construction could not be completed until towards the end of the 13th century. The medieval church remained until 1779-80, when it underwent a radical rebuilding. The present tower was added in 1780, but the spire that replaced the round copper top dome was erected in 1909.
