About the church
Ignaberga gamla kyrka is a church building in Ignaberga in the Diocese of Lund. It is a parish church of Hässleholm parish.
The church was built in the 12th century of local Ignaberga limestone. A porch was added in the 15th century, when the vaults were also built. In 1717 the church was extended to the west.
In 1887 Ignaberga nya kyrka was completed and the old church was left to fall into decay. It is said that as the church was falling into ruin, the village children began to throw darts at the altarpiece and in winter to slide down on sledges on the pew doors. In the 1920s the church was rebuilt and it was reconsecrated in 1928.
