About the church
Hovsta kyrka is a church building in Hovsta parish in the Diocese of Strängnäs. It is the parish church of Axberg parish within Norra Närke deanery. The church lies on the plain by Kyrkvägen in Lillån about 5 km north of Örebro and about 4 km south of the urban area of Hovsta.
The church was built next to the village of Hosta, which thus gave its name to the church and the parish. One original part of the church dates from the 12th century, and Hovsta kyrka is counted among the oldest churches in Närke. Over the centuries the church has been altered through extensions, rebuilding and restorations.
