About the church
Hemavankyrkan is a church in Hemavan in Tärna parish in the Diocese of Luleå.
Before the church building was consecrated on 1 August 1971 by the Bishop of Luleå, Stig Hellsten, the villagers of Hemavan had for fifteen years worked for a chapel in the locality. After several years of work and fundraising, the Hemavan Chapel Foundation (Hemavans kapellstiftelse) was formed in 1970, which today is called Stiftelsen Hemavankyrkan. The red-painted building is of round barn design and the timber comes from Fredrika. The bell tower was consecrated in 1974.
The foundation and its board are responsible for maintenance and finances.
