About the church
Härnösands domkyrka is a church building in Härnösand that serves as the cathedral of the Diocese of Härnösand and as the parish church of Härnösands domkyrkoförsamling (Härnösand Cathedral Parish) within the Church of Sweden.
A church has stood on the site since 1593, shortly after the town was founded. It became a cathedral in 1647 when the superintendency of Härnösand was established, but was burned during the Russian raids of 1721. The present building, in Neoclassical style, designed by Johan Adolf Hawerman, was consecrated in 1846.
