Hamrånge kyrka

Hamrånge kyrka was built in 1847-1851. Stones from the medieval church were then used as building material. The walls are of stone, rendered on the outside and painted in a light red shade. The church is aligned north-south on a hill and is therefore clearly visible.

About the church
Hamrånge kyrka is a church building in Bergby. It belongs to Hamrånge parish in the Diocese of Uppsala.
The church, which was consecrated in 1854, stands on a wooded hill about 150 metres east of the ruined medieval church of Hamrånge. The old churchyard has been preserved and is surrounded by a low dry-stone wall. Formerly there was a high, rendered churchyard wall with a shingle roof and entrances with lychgates. In 1842 the lychgates were demolished and replaced by masonry stone pillars and iron gates. The old church's belfry was built in 1649 on a hill about 200 metres west of the church. In 1850 the belfry was demolished. Just south of the old churchyard lies the vicarage.
