Danmarks kyrka can be seen from far away across the so-called Danmarksslätten. It is built in the neo-Gothic style, with a tower that impresses with a height of 45 metres. The church was thoroughly renovated and reopened in the spring of 2015.

About the church
Danmarks kyrka is a church building in the locality of Danmark and belongs to Danmark-Funbo parish in the Diocese of Uppsala. It is located about 8 kilometres south-east of Uppsala. The church was first mentioned in 1291. Near the church there are about ten runestones with Christian text and crosses carved into them. Danmarks kyrka is a brick church, the oldest parts of which date from the 14th century. In the late 15th century the church acquired more or less the appearance it has today. The church has since been extended and altered, both inside and out, partly after the fires that ravaged it in 1699 and 1889.
Nearby lies Linnés Hammarby, and in the years 1758–1778 Danmarks kyrka was the home church of Carl von Linné.
Where the name Danmark comes from is not known, but there are several theories. According to Olaus Magnus's History of the Nordic Peoples (7:15), the church has permanently taken its name from the enemy's homeland, since the magnificent building was erected with war booty taken from him and thus stands there as an eternal memorial to the fallen. Another theory is that the name comes from Danes and the Dani.
