About the church
Botilsäters kyrka is a church building on Värmlandsnäs in Säffle Municipality in Värmland County. It is one of the parish churches of Södra Värmlandsnäs parish in the Diocese of Karlstad. Until 2010 it was the church of Botilsäter parish.
The church, which has no tower, is built of stone. Its western parts were built in the late 12th century. The south portal formerly had a sculpted tympanum stone made by Forshemsmästaren (the Forshem Master). This is now kept at the Swedish History Museum. In the latter half of the 17th century the three-sided chancel was added. Around 1700 a transept arm was built in the south.
The church has a wooden barrel vault, which was decorated with paintings in 1769. In 1736 the altarpiece was installed and in 1775 the pulpit was set up. The church has a baptismal font from the 12th century.
