Borlunda kyrka

About the church

Borlunda kyrka, in the church village of Borlunda, belongs to Eslöv parish in the Diocese of Lund.

The neighbouring parishes of Skeglinge and Borlunda built the church jointly. Both the old churches of Borlunda and Skeglinge were in poor condition and were demolished. The church bell from Skeglinge was handed over to Borlunda kyrka. In the mid-1950s the area where Skeglinge kyrka had stood was restored and a memorial site was created there, where the outlines of the old church were marked out with stone. Skeglinge's old church bell from the 15th century was brought back from Borlunda kyrka and hung in a newly built bell tower on the site, and was inaugurated on 12 August 1961 by the provost Nils Ahle. Where the old Borlunda church stood, between the village road and the river Bråån, there is a natural boulder with an information text. Next to the old Borlunda church there had hung in a bell tower a bronze bell, cast in 1728 by Andreas Wetterholtz in Malmö. It was later moved to the south transept arm of the new church.
