Bollnäs kyrka

The church was built during the 14th and 15th centuries. It is known that a church consecration took place on 3 November 1468. By then the characteristic, powerful tower, which is recognisable when passing along national road 83, should have been completed. During the years 1753-55, 1876-78, 1927-28 and 1992-93 the church was renovated and restored.

About the church
Bollnäs kyrka is a church building in Bollnäs. It is the parish church of Bollnäs parish in the Diocese of Uppsala. The church houses the second-largest collection of medieval wooden church sculptures in Sweden.
The church was probably built in the 14th century. The tower was added in the 1460s, and transepts were added in 1753–1755. The 3.5-metre-high altar shrine came to the church in 1468. Gunnar Torhamn is behind the wall paintings executed in 1928 in the vaults. In the 1930s–1940s Bollnäs kyrka was painted, with the village in the background, by the artist Bror Hillgren (1881–1955), who was active in Delsbo.
