About the church
Biskopsgårdens kyrka, formerly Södra Biskopsgårdens kyrka, is a church building located in the district of Biskopsgården in Gothenburg Municipality. Since 2010 it has belonged to Lundby parish (formerly Biskopsgården parish) in the Diocese of Gothenburg.
The name was originally Södra Biskopsgårdens kyrka. When Norra Biskopsgårdens kyrka was deconsecrated in 2004, the name was changed to Biskopsgårdens kyrka.
The church was consecrated on 26 February 1961 by Bishop Bo Giertz. On the same occasion he burned in the cross that can be seen on the church door facing Vårvädersgatan. A small church had originally been planned, but when the parish was formed it was given the status of parish church. The church was rebuilt and extended and reconsecrated in November 2004.
