Birgittakyrkan

The church is situated on a headland by a bay in the north-western part of Lake Vättern. It is believed to have been built in the 1620s as a manor church, was renovated to its present appearance in 1785, and the present interior is largely the same as it was then. The church is surrounded by a beautiful manor setting, yet lies close to the large paper mill on the outskirts of Olshammar.

About the church
Birgittakyrkan, or Olshammars kyrka, is a church building in Olshammar in Askersund Municipality. It belongs to Askersund-Hammar parish in the Diocese of Strängnäs. It was originally an ironworks church and was privately owned until 1982, when it was transferred to the Church of Sweden and Hammar parish.
Verner von Heidenstam was born at the adjacent manor house on 6 July 1859.
