Askersunds landskyrka

The church stands on the height right beside the narrow strait at the southern approach to Askersund. It was completed in 1670 and is the county's best example of the grand building of the Swedish Age of Greatness, with a burial chapel for the church's patrons from Stjernsund Castle.

About the church
Askersunds landskyrka is a church building belonging to Askersund-Hammar parish in the Diocese of Strängnäs. The church lies between national road 50 and Lake Alsen on the south-western outskirts of Askersund.
Verner von Heidenstam called it the Riddarholmen Church of the provinces.
Another name for the church is ”Queen of Northern Vättern”. It comes from Mikael Mogren.
