Älvestad kyrka was built in the 12th century, but was hit by fire in 2007. The church was then rebuilt in 2009-2011 and reconsecrated in May 2011.

About the church
Älvestads kyrka is a church building in Älvestad in the Diocese of Linköping. It lies in Älvestad parish, Motala Municipality. The church lies about 14 kilometres north-east of Skänninge and about 14 kilometres south of Borensberg. On 29 March 2007 the church was hit by a severe fire that started in a workshop building on the other side of the road. In 2009-2011 the church received a new roof and interior and underwent certain alterations to designs by palace architect Per Rydberg.
