Algutsrums kyrka is set high up with a view over Kalmarsund, along the road on central Öland. The yellow church tower already welcomes visitors from Ölandsbron (the Öland Bridge). The parish also includes the ruin of S:t Knuts kapell at Gråborg. A runestone find may belong to a Viking Age wooden church on the site.
